The Alligator Zydeco Band has performed over 2000 shows in 10 states – From Colorado to South Florida. The band has been enthusiastically received at many of the larger Zydeco Festivals on the East Coast, opened for the top two Zydeco acts in the world and headlined several smaller festivals. Of special note-the AZB was the only Zydeco band outside of Louisiana, to ever be chosen by Electric Factory Concerts to play the “Jam on the River” in Philadelphia. (5 consecutive years.)
The father-daughter team of Greg & Laura Troiano—a.k.a. the Snakeman & the Zydeco Girl—front this band of talented musicians. Both are well known by the touring Louisiana bands. Laura is widely regarded by these peers to be the best frottoirist (rubboard) on this side of the USA. The Snakeman distinguishes himself by playing all 3 types of accordion used for this lively music. This is a rare feat among even the current world wide Zydeco community and allows for the band to cover any style within the genre.
The band was listed on the Electric Factory Concert website as “the best Zydeco band on the East Coast” for their last performance and Dining & Entertainment Magazine described the band as “one of the best Zydeco bands in the country-bar none”.
DELCO NOTE – Greg performed the first Zydeco, by a regional band, in DELCO in 1985. The event was Kite day at Rose Tree Park. This is several years before there were any regional Zydeco bands or dance organizations for this genre.
